Sharing Warmth in Ennerdale this Mandela Day
16 July 2025 — In honour of Mandela Day, the Ennerdale community is once again coming together in the spirit of giving, kindness, and unity. This year, the focus is on bringing warmth and nourishment to local children during one of the coldest times of the year.
With the support of Ward Councillor Levonah and Evotel, 150 children in Ennerdale will receive winter beanies and gloves to help keep them warm this season. A pop-up soup kitchen will also be set up on the day to serve hot meals, ensuring that the children not only stay warm but also have something nourishing to eat.
This initiative, supported by fibre network provider Evotel, is part of an ongoing relationship between the company and the Ennerdale community. Over the past few years, Evotel has quietly and consistently played a role in supporting food drives and outreach programmes in the area, often working behind the scenes with local leaders and residents to identify where help is most needed.

“Mandela Day reminds us that it’s not about big gestures, but about showing up for each other in small, consistent ways,” says Evotel Marketing Manager – Nadia Smith. “What matters is the community coming together—local organizations, partners like Evotel, and everyday people—to make sure no child is forgotten.”
The day will be about more than just handing out warm clothing or serving food—it’s about showing children that they are seen, valued, and supported. It’s also a reminder that positive change is possible when communities and partners work together.
Evotel’s team says their role is simply to enable and uplift: “The real heroes are the people on the ground every day—teachers, parents, councillors, and residents—who never stop trying to make things better. We’re just honoured to be part of their journey.”
This Mandela Day, Ennerdale once again proves that it’s not about doing something big for one day, but about doing something meaningful, together.
